ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPY

About

What's it all about?

Hypnotherapy is a process achieved with the assistance of a qualified therapist.  In a relaxed and safe environment it allows clients to reach a sleepy feeling almost like being in a light trance.  During this process the client would be awake and fully conscious but the subconscious mind relaxes while the body also experiences deep relaxation.

It's important to note that hypnotherapy is not the same as stage hypnosis. You will never be out of control or compelled to do anything against your will. Throughout the session the therapist will guide you naturally and safely to overcome emotional obstacles and challenges in your life.

By allowing the body and mind to work together the therapy works gently on removing behavior patterns that you wish to change, using suggestions from the therapist. These patterns can then be replaced with more beneficial ones that your subconscious mind will accept.

In most circumstances the hypnotherapy will take approximately one to one and a half hours.  There is a discussion beforehand, addressing expectations, agreeing where the therapy suggestions will be most useful and then beginning with the relaxation techniques.  During the therapy clients will be aware of outside noises, the sound of the world going on around them and the gentle music playing in the background.  Sometimes they can be unaware of outside noises but more conscious of  colours and images within their mind.  This is a time to enjoy a totally unique experience and start to go on a journey of self discovery - letting go of emotional pain or negative self belief.

After the phasing out of negative thoughts and feelings during hypnosis, the client will then be brought gently back into a feeling of wakefulness.  This is by the therapist using a more upbeat voice and tempo and allowing there to be time to readjust to the surroundings.  Following a discussion about how the hypnotherapy felt, what issues may have come to the surface or just the general feedback the therapy will draw to a close.

The number of sessions required to bring about significant changes can vary depending on the individuals specific needs. It's not uncommon for some clients to experience positive results in as few as three sessions, some may benefit from up to five sessions.  An effective hypnotherapist can make a significant difference in the therapy process. Their expertise in guiding clients through hypnosis using appropriate techniques can accelerate progress and promote positive changes.

Additionally, periodic "top-up" sessions or follow-up appointments can be valuable for maintaining the benefits achieved through hypnotherapy. Similar to other self-care practices, revisiting a hypnotherapist can help individuals stay on track, reinforce positive changes, and develop quick and effective methods to approach difficulties in their lives.

Consistency and continuity in working with a hypnotherapist can lead to  long-lasting positive outcomes. It allows the individual to build upon the progress made in previous sessions and tackle new challenges that may arise over time.  Ultimately, the frequency of hypnotherapy sessions will depend on the individual's unique circumstances. A collaborative approach between the client and the hypnotherapist willensure that the therapy is tailored to meet the client's specific needs and bring about the best results.
